Description

This is KA114 EG-Y, the world's only flying DeHavilland Mosquito, which recently took to the air after a lengthy restoration by Avsepcs at Ardmore Aerodrome here in Auckland. This event was much anticipated in the Warbird circles world wide, and the flying is well covered on You Tube!! I am lucky enough to have a friend who works there and and plays with such machines for a living!!. Today we got a private open day and a chance to pore over the machine to our hearts content! Up close, it is both big, and small at the same time, if that makes sense. Most of the photo's I took are details, really only of interest to the modeller, but I have one or two more, including a few of her during her build and one or two other tasty shots, if there is any interest? It was a scorcher today, about 34 degrees and bright, hence the slight wash out in some images that could be posted. Here we have the business end.. 4 x 0.303" brownings up stairs, and 4 x 20mm Hispano cannons downstairs. The opening on the right above the mg's is the gun camera. Hope every one is having a good weekend, inspite if the evil that seems to befall some communities. Our thoughts and hearts are with them all.

The Aircraft no-one wanted even the RAF until it flew! Then after Mr De Havilland promised them speeds unheard of, it beat those quoted! THEN, everyone wanted it, even the U.S.A.F have it in their museum at Dayton.. (I have photos), they flew it until the end of the war.. FANTASTIC MATE!!! Yes, post more! I read about this, It may be coming to Legends NEXT YEAR! Rob
