Description

Bar, restaurant, inn since 1423 AD.. same location, same name = Goude Hooft, Golden Head (old dutch, as "Hooft" (head) is now written as "hoofd" in more modern Dutch), but 3rd building. This building is in use since 1934, elements from the 2nd building (1660) are still in it.. and below there are still areas from the beginning (1424 AD - There was still a Roman Empire in Southern Europe !) The little house is the Wishhouse - first year .. they build a little wooden house and you can put your wish in the letter box, the most original one will be "done" at the end of the year.

wonderful The Roman Empire (the Western part with Rome and Ravenna)ended in 476 AD, when Romulus Augustus was forced to abdicate to the Germanic warlord Odoacer. The Byzantine Empire, (the Eastern or Greek part) ended in 1453 AD with the death of Constantine XI and the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks. The Holy Roman Empire (Latin: Imperium Romanum Sacrum, German: Heiliges Römisches Reich, Italian: Sacro Romano Impero), founded by Charlemagne, existed from 962 AD to 1806 AD in Central Europe and ended under the rule of Francis II, who abdicated and dissolved the Empire in 1806 during the Napoleonic Wars.

CUTE little house... and it's stealing all the attention from that super old building... I gotta wonder how many layers of paint it has... but ya know, the inner walls have probably been replaced repeatedly through the years and centuries, especially when electricity became in effect. When you think of the invention of electricity, do you think of Ben Franklin or someone else? We, or I have always been taught Ben Franklin invented electricity - I know he was around in 1776... just curious what you think.
