Description

A more revealling test render of the emerging HMAS Canberra model (this time using Poser) for those who wanted a closer look. This model is already 29 Mb so may already be too big to add to a big fleet scene. I'm thinking about sharing a series of these "Counties" as low and medium-res versions, using alternative "add-ons" to the Canberra's base hull. Though I probably have to think more carefully about what other variant I might add to the series after Australia and Shropshire - eg to account later for ships like HMS Suffolk (of Denmark Strait fame) the base hull should ideally start with a "removeable" cut-away on the stern. Even thinking seriously about trying my hand at making canvas "Gin-Palace" sunshades for the deck... for the parties of course! ;-) Thanks for views and comments

Excellent work, always find 3d models of naval ships fascinating.

This is looking very nice indeed, Brian. I like the idea of a choice of resolution models and some variation add-ons. It really enhances the chances for variety in a scene setup. The idea of sunshades is a great one as well. ("Gin Palace" is a term I've never heard of...I'm putting it in my great ones folder along with "Thach Weave".)Very exciting stuff!!

I set up the "Gin-palace" sunshade covers for my Arizona... they aren't too hard to do really... the hardest part is making all the support posts for them... She's looking good so far... ;)
