Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.

the title almost sounded like a fast food chain order: I'll have the un, Fragment of a back side (with windows) to go; hold the soot Great shot and interesting lines and I was so looking forward to seeing cute female shirtless joggers.....

stunning. evokes strong emotion and sense of self in a humanistic illustration.

Good stuff, Chip. A superb image. Fascinating details.

Great! I love all the image, but the thing that got my attention inmediatly was the satellite dish. It is so incongruous with the building that deserves to be right there.

Brick, mortar, paint, wood, iron, glass, dirt and plastic. It's a texture feast for the eyes, and the light adds gravitas to the scene. Excellent!

A wonderful architectural abstract, Chip!:)

So much to see here and it all works so well, at least to look at. hard to tell if it really does work the way it's supposed to! lol

I like the nice solid lines of this piece. The pure boldness of them fits very well with the slightly grungy appearance. This looks so clean and strong that it looks a bit unnatural - like a powerage poser piece - no insult intended just trying to explain the slight disconnect.

Yeah it's rather busy, but in a good way!

Such a powerful composition with the bold diagonals cut by verticals and horizontals, and a textural feast to fill itall in. Marvellous .

This definitely reminds me of some of the places over in Northeast Kansas City Missouri. Very cool shot, Chip!

Superb capture my friend. God Bless.

so many different textures, a court for many people but without someone, quit worn out, straight architecture. Bricks, wood and iron bring this to a oneness. very clear presence for all this in your picture!

Is that windows 3.11 or 98? just joking! Nice photo

Lots to see here, great jumble of lines and shapes and colours, and the urban texture to top it off. Well seen and captured, Chip!

I really like this shot with all the movement there has been over time just under the windows. Yes, new windows and junk and cracks in painting on the awesome staircase I love the most. It is a place that tels alot of stories :)

A great mix of patterns & textures, depth & shadows that form a very appealing gritty urban geometric abstract. I especially like the peeling paint patterns. Outstanding in every way...
