Description
Courtly love was the idea of love by a man for a woman who was beyond his reach, usually a married woman of higher status. In its ideal form, the love was never consummated and was characterized by the extreme devotion of the knight for his lady--a love compared to the veneration of the Virgin Mary.
In this instance, the courtly love is of a mortal alchemist for his elven lady.
