ich weiss wir hatten so eine,im winter wenn die fuesse halb erfroren waren;(wir gingen zu fuss zur schule nicht wie die weicheier heute)sassen wir um den herd die fuesse aufzutauen,manchmal sassen wir auch da rum und haben uns die zehen nägel geschnitten die ganze familie,gab ein gutes sueppchen lach .

I used to wonder how my great-grandmother knew how much wood to put in the stove, and how she made everything come out so perfect every time. This brings back memories of potato pancakes and perfect pies. Wonderful image!
