Description

As they break down an ugly 1970's building in Den Haag / The Hague, another unique view on special buildings. The large one on the corner is from 1930. Never saw the difference in roof-cover before.. (ha ha) The little house was proberbly big when build... over 350 years ago..(around 1640) the white building on it's right side is late 20th century..(1999,2000) but I Love the large building left of it.. it is "Um 1800 Bewegung" style (protest against Jugendstil.. ) about 100 years old now. Um 1800 Bewegung (German name for a building style going back to 1750/1800) is often Neo-Barok, but here it is Neo-Classicism.. My city has a lot of buildings in that style (like it has a lot of Jugendstil/Art Nouveau)

This construction project really did open up the view a lot Chris, it improved it a hundredfold. Thank you so much for sharing these photos as well as the detailed background information you provide. I'm always fascinated to see your captures of these historic structures that you maintain in perfect condition
