Description

Modeled in 3dsmax, rendered in Octane render. Everything here, including rocks, fence, grass, flowers, etc. modeled in 3dsmax. The "gnome" object, which isn't really a gnome at all obviously, is a sculpture created by rotating some shapes around a rose curve. Yes, I know I've been fixated on the rose curves lately, but the shapes created by using those coordinates in the design process are so beautiful to my eye, I can't help but continue to experiment with what can be done using them as a basis for modeling. The grass here was created from hair/fur modifier, and exported to render as geometry. Took a LOT to get this right, but I think it looks fairly acceptable for such a close shot. I'll continue to refine my grass shader in Octane, using translucent materials with gaussian spectrum SSS.

I think, I prefer this sculpture any given day, than have gnomes gracing my garden ... translucent materials sound like challenge, let's see it, BB BTW have a 'Cool Yule' - or in plain English - 'Best Wishes to you and your family for Christmas' ... ;) Cheers!
