Via Friedrich Alfred Krupp, detta comunemente via Krupp, è una delle strade più famose dell'isola di Capri, che collega il centro storico dell'isola con la zona balneare di Marina Piccola. Il magnate tedesco dell'acciaio Friedrich Alfred Krupp, abitando in una suite del centrale hotel Quisisana, non riusciva a raggiungere velocemente Marina Piccola, dove teneva ormeggiato il suo panfilo: comprò quindi l'intera area compresa fra la Certosa di San Giacomo e il Castiglione e vi fece costruire la strada che oggi prende il suo nome. Dato che le rocce capresi sono di natura calcarea, via Krupp è sempre stata esposta al pericolo di caduta massi. Per questa ragione la strada ha conosciuto molti periodi di chiusura, talvolta per numerosi anni. Friedrich Alfred Krupp, commonly known as Via Krupp, is one of the most famous streets of the island of Capri, which connects the historic center of the island with the resort area of Marina Piccola. The German steel magnate Friedrich Alfred Krupp, living in a suite at the Central Hotel Quisisana, could not quickly reach Marina Piccola, where he kept moored his yacht: then bought the entire area between the Certosa di San Giacomo and Castiglione and he built the road that today takes its name. Because the rocks are limestone Capri, Via Krupp has always been exposed to the danger of falling rocks. For this reason the road has experienced many periods of closure, sometimes for many years.

Such an amazing depth ad photo-shot, Arturo. I guess if I would stand there, I was fallen into it ;-). An interesting 'story', about that Krupp-family. And it's superb to see that purple flowers in the front of your photo.

Ohhh! What a wonderful photograph! It's quite dizzying, isn't it? Now that seems to me to be a very silly place to build a road, but I'm glad they did it just so you could get this wonderful shot. :)
