Description

The Class 442's were a common sight on the Waterloo- Bournemouth-Weymouth routes up until their withdraw by South West Trains in 2007. There were 25 in total, 17 have now been refurbished and are being used by Southern on the Gatwick Express routes. Once refurbished two sets of five carriages can be joined to carry up to 600 passengers!

Very interesting Steve. Does this have a third rail? We don't have them over here, but rather the ugly contraptions on top.

The rail looks quite different so perhaps Andrew's answer can be found in there. Nice shot!
