Description

Well, here it is. This is what can happen if a person puts in 70 hours of work on a model. 853 Objects, 29 lights, and 44 shaders. This is easily in the top 5 most complicated models I've ever done. This image was generated from a creation starting from nothing to the final product using ONLY Carrara and Paint Shop Pro. I have rendered it with the large pixel count here because there are teensy details in the lettering which you can see on the primary hull. There are also similar beensy details on the lettering around the landing docks on the sides but it's so small, you can't see it from here anyway. I have several renders of this model from several angles. I wish I could post them all right now! However, I also know there's not a lot of interest in just a gob of renders of the same model from a bunch of directions. The real question now is, what will I do with it? Some of the more prevalent and common renders of this ship involve interesting backgrounds so I'll cook something up which has some kind of interesting backdrop. This model has a TON of self lighting which will make a more artistic render easier than the stuff I've done with the TOS Enterprise. There is also so much surface detail that it's easy to get a cool render off this model (even when you're just fooling around). The windows are painted into the texture (mostly). That means that an even deeper level of imagery can be achieved if I had meshes with the window holes and ports formally cut. I have Rhino 3D and will attempt to build that. Anyway, building this 100% Carrara version first taught me a LOT about what will be required for further modeling using other tools. This is NOT a simple structure to build and doing it once here has provided me some great training. I've become a little more knowledgeable of the vertex modeler through this exercise (as well as learning a few more things). I've also had to remember a few things I've forgotten! Hats off to plug-ins provided in the Veloute and Enhance C package. Without them, a lot of what you see could not have been realized. Enjoy!

"I also know there's not a lot of interest in just a gob of renders of the same model from a bunch of directions". Oh I don't know...Some of us here (me one of them) enjoy a creative collage especially when the model is as high quality as this and the hours endured creating such a diverse piece deserves to be shown at different POV so one can actually see all the excellent details.I will say that this is now one of my top 5 models of one said U.S.S. Enterprise NC-1701. Congrats on a job well done! ~smiles~

I would love to see all the other renders of this model. Is your model available for others to use also?
