Subtitled "Be Careful What You Ask For - The Christmas Special"
On Christmas night, about 8pm Central Time, me and the teens (3 native Floridians) were rejoicing that the forecast snow had arrived! We even ran around in it for a while, although it was already dark. It doesn't snow much in Arkansas, maybe a couple inches once or twice a winter.
Our giddy delight lasted about 1 hour. Christmas Day, you see, had been rainy, so things--like trees!--iced up very fast. And lots of them fell. On power lines. We were 1 household out of over 200,000 that lost power. We got electricity restored about 1pm today, about 88 hours after we lost it.
So we spent 4 cold nights all bundled up, in lots more than kerchiefs and caps. The house is now warm and cozy again, thankfully. But I am praying, & asking for your prayers, for those here who are still without power.
This picture was taken on December 26, facing my late inlaws' house. There is about 6" of snow on the ground. It's still pretty but we didn't enjoy it nearly as much as we would have if we could have gone back into a warm house.

very cool shot (pun intende) glad you got power restored - it's no fun to lose power at any time.

Gorgeous shot! Too bad it knocked out your power, though - that's never good! We were at Mt. Magazine and Petit Jean State Park in October - just love Arkansas!

Beautiful shot but not much snow ;-) In Montreal We received more than 3 feet of snow in 2 days... the price for all this snow removal $ 30 million :(

RodS, I haven't been to those yet, although my family has. I live near Pinnacle Mountain and have pictures in the gallery of part of the Ouachita Trail near Pinnacle, if you haven't seen them. MagikUnicorn, the paper said it would be about $10 million to just get power back.
