Description

I'm having too much fun with Sancha and not enough with Frank. Lol...he's being difficult in trying to get him ready. Flamenco dancing originated in the part of southern Spain called Andalusia. When the Muslims and Moors controlled southern Spain (approx. 700-1400), it was called Al-Andalus by the north-African Berbers (Moors). It was previously known as Al-Vandalusia. This was because the land was previously held by the Germanic Vandals or Vandalen. Before that, it was part of the Roman Empire, and the Visigoth's empire, as well as the Punic (Phoenician) Confederation. Southern Spain was a hot piece of property because whoever controlled southern Spain controlled the Pillars of Hercules and hence the shipping lanes into and out of the Mediterranean Sea. The Rom people also moved into this area beginning (so it is said) in the 1400s. The north African Berbers and Rom shared kindred cultures, incorporating dancing and music. Eventually, they sort of merged together to form the art called 'Flamenco'. Flamenco is an overall term that includes the dancing, the music, the hand-clapping, foot-stomping and lesser things - each of which has it's own name or term. The Romani or Gypsy style of Flamenco is slightly different than the classical Spanish style - mostly in the movement of the arms. ***** I couldn't pass up DiYanira's 'OLE' dress, which *was* on sale. It's a cool dress but I do have one tiny complaint. The skirt could use handles. It has very nice textures though and comes with poses as well. This one was somewhat modified by me. Thanks for coming by dear friends! I truly appreciate your comments and faves :) You ready for a new year full of unknowns? We can always hope things get better. Cheers! Ray

Amazing what you did with that dress. And you know men will always be difficult. I think that's why we like them. We constantly need a challenge. ;) Happy new year! ")

I like the rich darkness of the image and especially the sense of movement you have instilled in the way you have morphed her dress. You are never short on your historical insights when the moment calls for it.
