Description
Well, not really. This is a maximum zoom (24x on my camera) of a section of one of the canyons from the photo I posted yesterday. But it would be a great location to film a sci-fi movie that takes place on Mars, wouldn't it? And, by the way, for an idea of the scale of these formations, that line that runs along the bottom of the photo is a road that cars travel on.
Don't forget to zoom, don't fall off any cliffs (physical or fiscal) & have a Happy & Creative New Year in 2013...

It's so interesting to see how that pale layer sits on top, and to see the places where it has eroded and chunked away and scattered on the slopes. Endlessly fascinating!

Excellent in every aspect photographic. This pic more than rivals any photos taken of Mars by Curiosity.

I find myself sitting and staring and staring...thinking about what I am seeing. Every layer has its own story of deposition and erosion. What a striking photo...particularly at the zoom.
