Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

I do like cutaways. We had one at school of a fourstroke car engine.

The Corsair is magnificent! And I am very surprised to see a cutaway of a radial engine! Perhaps some more shots of that if you have any? Great photos Bill!

They looked great with the bubble canopy.

WOW! As an anatomist I find these types of exhibits/pictures fascinating. What does the "xyz" look like inside. And, I see that the pistons are not arranged in a linear manner but are rotated/twisted around the propellers axle. I assume this has to do with evening out the forces around the axle. Great photo. Would like to see this close-up! And, a Happy New Year to you and Tara! :-)

Great image. Happy New Year!!

Great image Bill. I built a 1/72 scale model of this as a kids and loved the wing shape. The cut-a-way engine looks fantastic and I can see why it would draw the crowds. Happy New Year mate!

Indeed it is. It is so abstract looking, this engine :) But the plane is pretty nice looking too. :)

ummm....nice shadowplay and reflections? LOL, you know how I am about airplanes. But really, this is very beautifully composed, and the colour pop is very well done!

A beautiful aircraft - one of my favorites - and you captured it well. I wish you and Tara a Happy New Year Bill and many joyous travels. BTW, I bought a Canon EOS 60D today. I was on sale at Best Buy and the BX price matched it.

Nice quasi silhouetting in this pic of the famous plane of the WWII Pacific theater, Bill. Reminiscent of the Baa Baa Black Sheep squadron led by Pappy Boyington.

Quite possibly my favorite exhibit at the museum! :) I remember the little boy who asked his mom, "Did that engine come out of that airplane?" He couldn't have been more than about five years old. He followed a tour docent around, drinking in every word. He's going to grow up to be Chuter, and have a working knowledge of every part on every plane. I think that level of interest must be inborn. Thanks for a great picture, and for some really fine memories of our first official date! :*

Happy torque... I'd love to see an animation of how one actually works... ;-)

They don't make em like this anymore, do they? I love all the light from those windows, it really makes this plane glow.

This is a really cool shot, Bill! I love the selective color on the engine - and the lighting is absolutely superb - a great capture, my friend! Hope you and Tara have an awesome 2013! I'm looking forward to another year of your great shots!

A big engine for big brute of a plane. A fine capture.
