My corporeal form lives with my wonderful wife and six eccentric cats in beautiful Sedgefield, but my dreaming body is frequently elsewhere, exploring the fractal universe and marveling at nature's chaos. I love traveling to places that exist only as mathematical constructs on my computer and bringing back snapshots that sometimes remind me of the real world (whatever that means), sometimes of metamagical worlds we can visit only in our imaginations. I trained as a biologist and run a small company specialising in science publishing - writing, editing, illustrating and typesetting. For 3D world building I use Vue, Daz Studio and Poser, but I've also used Bryce since version 2 and done some work with Terragen, Carrara and Groboto. For technical illustration I use mainly Illustrator and Photoshop.
Thanks for visiting my little corner of Renderosity, and to everyone who has kindly commented on my images or added my works as a favourite, thank you for that too. Craig.

well this piece began the present year, so I'll comment on it. (I have to do 'representative' samples, as you know, because my slow speed prevents me from doing them all. It's never an easy choice...) The overall feel here is of a coppery/metallic sheen over the whole. Or as if we're seeing this through tinted glass. But there's a metallic quality to the light: muted but with quiet sheen. It's moody and beautiful. Then you have precipices, mounds, abutments, waterfalls, trees in silhouette (in beautiful dark greens), a lone bolt of lightning which is almost like a poem, and birds in light green-grays, and your layered background mountains---like scenes from some parts of China. Which were painted, btw, by a number of Chinese artists. In fact, this has a Chinese feel to it, in the way the mist engulfs the forms, in the clarity of detail that only comes as 'whispers' (how they did that with ink, I don't know; but how you do this in 3D I ALSO don't know!), and in all the misty space. Mist, to the traditional Chinese painter, was of course spirit/tao, etc: The Taoists would approve of this piece...And your waterfalls are an almost a graphic creation: suddenly a luminous green, lots of light in them, with the look (almost) of fabric. (Crinkled silk.) Then, I assume those are waterfalls, as they could be something from another world that we don't have here. They look like scarves worn by the forests. And the birds and lightning are little haikus in the midst of it all. Once again, you've explored dark light, and turned out a poem. Gentle, inviting, mysterious and muted, with grandness hidden inside. Another beauty from you, Craig.
