Description

...just one of many bright spots along the Skykomish River that drains the west side of the Cascade Mountains in the southeast section of Washington's Snohomish County. ...from its headwaters in the South and North Forks to the lower reaches where it meets the Snoqualmie to form the Snohomish it offers everything from whitewater and plunge pools to long, wide runs held in check by classic gravel bars. Anglers interested in float fishing, drift fishing, hardware, plugging, and flyfishing all find plenty of suitable water on the Skykomish River. ...and if this is more than you needed to know, hope you'll just enjoy the cool mountain atmosphere along with me:) Please try a zoom for full effect.

There is so much to see in this shot, and the colors are amazing! Water does some pretty nifty color shifts when it gets busy like this, and this is quite busy: I can see whitewater, plunge pools, and something suspiciously mythical in here...well...at least Homeric. That's pretty cool. It's not every day you can look at water and think: "Aha! Homer must have seen one of these things when he needed to get Odysseus into the hard spot that he got out of, a number of pages later!" Well...that's the way my brain works at any rate." Well, OK...Homer wrote in lines and not pages, but still...you get the point. Oh, and have you noticed how this comment is shaped kinda like that water: It's all over the place, roiling, churning, plunging. And all of that is to say that I love this shot. It's so dramatic! Who needs epics like The Hobbit when rivers can be quite epic and entertaining and free to see? This is brilliant.

I love that cool blue-green of the water in the back of the shot; I can almost hear the rush of the water, what a lovely capture!

I love this low angle Bill! Your shutter speed is also slow enough to just show the movement of the water! Well done! :)

Great image! I love the colors you've coaxed out of the water, and the slight blur to the whitewater gives the photo a lovely mood. Nicely done! :*

An absolutely beautiful photo, Bill! I remember a long time ago when I was just a little kid, we were up in that area and stopped at Snoqualmie Falls. I was very young, but I remember it being extremely beautiful.
