It's Always The One You Least Suspect by KatesFriend

"Well I'll be a cockeyed cockatoo...", thought Betty as she stumbled across usually flamboyant Veronica in a quiet section of Riverdale Park, "...the goat legged Devil-Flanders was oh so on the money - giggle". And we all thought only Betty could wear a halo, still red is Veronica's colour. Just a having some fun with Riverdale sensibilities today. Though no disrespect to Betty's own purity is implied. And yes, Pop's now has wi-fi. I had a rather amusing though bizzare back story for this rendering. It involved Veronica's relationship with Lent, chocolate and practical personal security. But I believe I've already shattered enough myths for one Sunday.
I've been tinkering with this scene for a little while now. This is my most recent take on Veronica of Archie Comics fame. Veronica and Betty are essentially identical in face and body shape. They only differ in hair and clothing. Though some artists paint Veronica with a slightly stronger tan than Betty. But, in spite of all the similarities I've found it difficult to create a convincing Veronica. Getting her hair right seems to be the key. Of coarse, she had to wear a hat today just to add to the challenge.
TECHNICAL TIPS
If one uses ray traced shadows in Poser, turn off the "Visible in Raytrace" option for any object or figure which uses transparencies or transmaps. Transparencies greatly slow down the rendering process when using light sources that create shadows through ray tracing. This practice is useful for trial renderings where one is tinkering with differing poses or testing differing forms of lighting. One is no longer slowed down by the rendering of hair or trees. Of coarse, this means that these objects will not cast shadows and will not appear in refractive or reflective objects - characters can appear bald in mirrors. But if you are not worried about that while trying to get the lighting just right then you will save a lot of rendering time by foregoing ray trace shadows for these objects. You would need to turn "Visible in Raytrace" back on for your final rendering in order to make all shadows look right - and for your lady to get her hair back in the mirror.

Cool pic! What she's doing is not surprising - Veronica is the one who needs the most forgiveness! If the hair makes the girl and you're looking for a little tip, remember: Veronica has bangs.

Excellent POV and composition. I like the lines made by the lamp, bench and branches. The lavender and squirrel add interest to the bottom right corner without getting in the way of the great lines of the bench. Wonderful expression and posing of Betty.
