Description

I'm not sure whether the granular stuff is fruiting bodies or another lichen using the first as a support! I know a man who will tell me..and will add the info when I receive it. This is where a much better camera would pay off..the TZ1 hasn't enough megapixel thingey!

I love your lichen pics. They always look to me like a landscape of some kind. Wonderful detail but it would be delightful to see the title 'Lichen on trunk' and see an image of a piece of luggage.

Oooh! Lichens! I suspect it's two breeds, but I could be wrong. They are the same color, and so maybe the granular bits are those sorts of temporary genitals plants and semi-plants use and then discard. I love the details and the way in which the granular texture makes me think, a wee bit, of powdered parmesan cheese. This is quite a marvel. Chicago is growing a lichen coat this year, it seems.
