Description

One of those planes that really sparked my excitement when I first saw it unveiled. The shape, like the F-105 was totally out of the box and intriguing in my estimation...at the time very sci-fi and futuristic. This was the first operational nuclear armed aircraft capable of Mach 2 flight. It broke a lot of records...only to be supplanted by the newest kids on the block. 15 minutes of fame is 15 minutes of fame. The Convair leap into the future was replaced by the F-111. Convair B-58: I think this was once on sketchup by JIHS...not available anymore. I tweaked the textures considerably. Cinema4D 6XL, Vue6Infinite, PS Cs2

It was a sweetheart! A gaggle of 'em were stationed at Carswell AFB in Ft. Worth, and they'd rattle your teeth when taking off in the middle of the night.... Well done!

Beautiful image of a beautiful aircraft. I remember building a scale model of the B-58 Hustler when I was a boy.

God you would have to put this up..I too as a kid built a B58 Hustler and it was my favorite model of all time. I wish I had seen one in real life. Later on I use to wet my pants seeing the British Vulcan swept wing bomber and would think about the Hustler as a more aggressive cousin. The Concorde use to fly over my home going to Dulles and that too reminded me. Just a look looking plane.. Sorry that its not available anymore. Nice render, skins looks good..I know you tweak everything that you do Bill.

Remember, computers were not in common use when this plane was built. The USAF tested a new pilot awareness system in the B-58. They determined that the attention of men under stress was most quickly gotten by the sound of a sexy woman's voice. So, they had voice clips that said things like "Your landing gear is not down." Laughably, the woman who recorded these was in her 60s. True story. I read it when I was a kid.
