My corporeal form lives with my wonderful wife and six eccentric cats in beautiful Sedgefield, but my dreaming body is frequently elsewhere, exploring the fractal universe and marveling at nature's chaos. I love traveling to places that exist only as mathematical constructs on my computer and bringing back snapshots that sometimes remind me of the real world (whatever that means), sometimes of metamagical worlds we can visit only in our imaginations. I trained as a biologist and run a small company specialising in science publishing - writing, editing, illustrating and typesetting. For 3D world building I use Vue, Daz Studio and Poser, but I've also used Bryce since version 2 and done some work with Terragen, Carrara and Groboto. For technical illustration I use mainly Illustrator and Photoshop.
Thanks for visiting my little corner of Renderosity, and to everyone who has kindly commented on my images or added my works as a favourite, thank you for that too. Craig.

Still I haven't skipped an image...but ok, I'll comment on this to make a few points. First I love your sci fi fictions, and how you articulate another world's chamber, hall, station, etc. And then the creatures...On the hall, this is clearly a meeting/intermediary space, it speaks of hallways and passages to 'somewhere else'. You've textured the walls as stone, and with an institutional gray that would suggest a formal meeting place or hallway. (A living room would have more personal touches, colors, objects, etc.) And an interesting criss-cross of lines, geometries, perspective. Then, your humanoids are so fascinating: The cat-like creature on the railing is a gel-like thing, with some greenish 'things' inside (maybe in aqueous solution). And it's perched like a cat. (Do you like cats? Lol, it's obvious.) Your green humanoid is all skeleton and parts, where the skeleton serves as protective plating as well. (And you've emulated organs too, no surprise given your professional background.) Then another cat-like creature---or some other puffy animal---who's straight out of a cartoon, with leggings (!) and a crystal-ball head. Delightful! And then the humanoid nearest us, whose broken---by neon-like lights---into segments, corresponding perhaps to muscles, organs, etc. A stylization of the structure of a human, in blue outlined segments. (This was an impetus for Modern Art, btw, the stylization of the human form into abstract sections, "quadrants"; which eventually led to total abstraction.) I love the feel of this creature, even that you have some of the spinal vertebrae as little blue blobs. (If only. My neck problems would be SO much better if they were that malleable.) I like its complex pose too. Finally, well articulated light and shadow, and glimpses into the city/stations around them. You did this really well, Craig. I imagine this takes real planning and time, in 3D---something utterly foreign to me. (I will one day post the only two 3D images I have, and then leave the country and change my name. I could bring down the entire field in one blow...) Delightful, and very thoughtfully done.
