Description
For today's ride I've posted this "40" Willys Custom Pro Street Coupe another bad machine. Never been in one or road in one, but I bet it's a blast. I guess some dreams don't come true, such is life. Have a great day, and thanks for all the comments, they are all great to read.

Memorable that they built the first concession of wartime issue MB Jeeps, after their successful Bantam and MA prototypes. It is sad to think that Ford got the Lion's share of the orders to build, this phenomenal workhorse. I really wish there were still some MBs in a box, which people used to tell you about, not so long ago. I wonder if the French build are still available. They still look great when you see them at shows. The American Jeep, most definitely knocked spots off the British Land Rover, even though the Land Rover body, was built out of Aluminium. The Land Rover bulkhead was prone to rusting very badly, which essentially negated any benefit derived from an aluminium body. Apparently, both the Willys and Ford power train, ran better without an oil filter, which is the only reason, there isn't one sat in my driveway right now! lol My Father used to tell me some great stories about the time he first encountered the Jeep in Germany and how many Jeeps were stolen, because of the poor security, so a directive was sent out, which required all rotor arms to be removed if a vehicle was parked overnight, off camp. Yes, you guessed it, any half serious thief used to go armed with a spare rotor arm! lol My Father's jeep was stolen one night in this manner! lol. He did stress, that the work on which he was engaged, was secret with the SOE and he was not out dining, as many other Jeeps used by both British and American personnel may have been on that occasion. I believed him! lol Furthermore, he did mention, how the number of casualties from collisions involving the Jeep rose alarmingly when they were first issued, mainly because of the extra power delivered by the Jeep engine. I remember watching some guys restoring a Willys when I was a school boy and when I took my Father to see the Jeep, he mentioned that instead of an American star on the hood, they had painted a Star of David! They got it going a week later and drove it around a yard, only to drive it straight into a brick wall, because they had forgotten to bleed the brakes! lol I would really like to see one of these Monster Coupes. Here's hoping, I can afford to fly to America again, one day! Thanks for posting this Stan.

I have this in my possession but in model form as in toy but it looks almost identical to this your displaying here Stan....Sits just to the right of my PC as I have an average so-so model collection that has grown for some 40 years out of the love for certain classic/muscle cars and trucks. Most models are the die cast/Hot Wheels variety but do have a selection of plastic (the kind you glue) as well. The 40's Willy's Custom is die cast but on the larger scale level then your normal average Hot Wheels and has some weight to it..lol...Thinking I'll take a moment and snap off a few and put a collage of what I have together and share at a later date..... ~smiles~ Damn Fine Ride Stan!!
