4018 is known as the Big Boy and is 133 feet long including the coal hopper 4501 I think was made in 1911 and was featured in Johnny Cash's last recorded song before his death "Hurt" and his wife June died not long afterwards they will put an engine behind and in front to individually move each of these monsters as they have no brakes

Legends in their day, both engines and the two people you mentioned~ I was looking at the comparison between Europe, Asia and the America's trains yesterday... seems we are still living in a totally different era.

Beautiful shot. It is nice they are keeping them around, but it is sad they no longer go under their own power. What a joy it is to see these old trains running and to ride on them if you can.
