Description
One of my favorite memories is driving up and down the Michigan coast with my friend John. He was a cantankerous old coot and one of the nicest people Iv'e ever met. He and I worked at his brothers camera shop after he sold his in Detroit. On weekends we would get in his land cruiser and just drive. He later bought a smaller car from his daughter(a foreman at one of the auto plants) just wasn't the same. Many of the pictures in my gallery are from those trips. He had been a POW during WWII in Germany and wouldn't hesitate to tell you if a picture wasn't good (I don't remember him ever being wrong)
This was at a fishery on Lake Michigan. The old trucks in my gallery were there. This net was drying after a day of catching. It has sat in my collection for years. I felt it was to blurry for any one but me. I recently acquired a deblurring program and when I ran it on this picture The results amazed me. So I wish to share this photo and memory of a good friend,
John you are missed.

Either the largest net I've seen or a collection of the most marvelous nets... miles of nets! I love this. Looks more river than ocean and I don't normally associate fishing nets like this with rivers. Perhaps, a habor? So glad to see you again, my dear. :-)

It is a cove around Traverse City, Michigan that leads out to lake Michigan. Usually attached to a trawler the net is let out and then drawn back to the boat. Think Finding Nemo's adventure with a net

It would have been nice to see the 'before and after' shot, next to each other -just simply for comparison with the new programme ... just a thought, Greg. Glad you have good memories, when perusing old pix! BB BTW I use occasionally the free 'Xero Filters' (eg. clarify)
