Description

Modeled and rendered in 3dsmax. A class project; inspired by the Burning Man art gathering. "Once a year, tens of thousands of participants gather in Nevada's Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. They depart one week later, having left no trace whatsoever." The project was to create an artistic structure, both functional and aesthetic, that would theoretically provide a usefulness and interest at a similar event. The triangle canopy was created for a friend of mine a few months ago, for use in a render he was making. After modeling it to his specifications, I had no idea what I would personally use it for, until this project came up. So I expanded on the idea, and created a kind of quadrupedal base for it (although the canopy itself was designed to stand independently), and went from there. The idea should be structurally sound, providing plenty of shade, with some visual interest as well. Not sure what "real world" materials would be used here, so I went with a standard white "Plasticine", weathered by the harsh desert environment. The human figures are from Axyz-design. I did not model or rig those. Everything else modeled and textured by me.

It seems like a perfect cover, for people who enjoy the sun and the warmth - but who would not like to get sun-burnt and end up with melanomas ... Intricate arches with a sculpture structure, just like a sun umbrella, also fine shade effects, BB
