Description

Though it has been sunny for the past couple of days, it’s been exceptionally cold: normal by Chicago standards. It’s been too cold for snow. We’ve had precious little snow this winter, though we’ve had rain. As one might guess, this photograph was not taken recently. I took it during a warmer period in Chicago’s recent history. I took it on a rainy day late last summer. I remember the warmth of that day. I remember the puddle-patterns and the dance of clouds across the sky. Warm weather clouds. There were birds. Worm-eating birds. They will be back next summer. It will, undoubtedly, rain next summer. But until then, I have only a photograph and memories of rain on leaves, and the sound of worm-eating birds saying bird things to one another. Enchanting! I've been sitting here staring at this image for I don't know how long, following the paths, enjoying the water drops. A gorgeous bit of summer in the middle of winter!

When I look at leaves, where I can see all the "veins" in such a fantastic order, I think about a game, my son played on his Amiga, while he was younger. The game was Sim City. You could build up cities with roads and such. At that time it was only in 2D and looked alot like this leaf. Now a days it is 3D ans much more complicated and realistic. But there were no lovely droplets and not this wonderful green color. A really Mastershot here, Chip.
