This is soooo beautiful. We have the Visrivier Canyon here, which I would like to go and walk. This looks like a real challenge though! Great shot!

I look at this landscape and think, look at all those high, flat tablelands...that's what all this land looked like before the canyons began to form. I was just reading that, "We have a Young Canyon consensus and an Old Canyon conjecture." The consensus is that the canyon is 6 million years old and the conjecture is that it is 70 million years old. One way or the other, your photographs from here really stir my imagination. I had some old National Geographic maps of the Western US printed around 1910...this area was still a white space on those maps with the words, "Unexplored Area" only 100 years ago.
