Yes, I can hear "Die Goterdammerrung"... I realize this was a few years ago, and hope your husband has remained in good health - but you are also very fortunate to live in a nation in which health care is acknowledged as a right. I've always been impressed that Germany was the first modern nation to guarantee health care to all its citizens since its founding in 1871 - and through four different forms of government over 140 years, has continued to make sure German citizens have access to medical care, regardless of ability to pay. In the U.S.A., health care is still considered a for-profit commodity, and those who cannot afford to pay either must rely on charity, go bankrupt - or die. Yes, it happens. Shameful, isn't it? The richest, most powerful nation on earth, self-proclaimed "leader of the free world" refuses to take care of the least of its citizens...even with the half-hearted attempt known as the "Affordable Care Act." corporate profits still matter far more than human life where I live... :_( I may make some enemies by saying this, but if an illness or accident can bankrupt you, that's not freedom...
