Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

You absolutely made the best of a bad situation here, Bill! This has a wonderful graphic, almost surreal look - brilliant!

Wow, with the monochrome effects and that awesome structure, shades of a futuristic noirlike movie in this rendering! I like the recessive application of the background

I think that one of the best parts of photography is taking an "impossible" photograph on purpose, and then using that imposibility to make something else. There's no such thing as an impossible photographic situation (unless you're without your camera) and all it takes to make a good photo is the willingness and ability to FIND the good photo in front of you. OK...that's not as easy as it sounds, but you did it perfectly here. I love the effect and the black and white makes this quite timeless.

I can hear the roar of the crowd in the ever-expanding rings. (They suddenly looked like sound waves! No no! I'm retired!!) :P Excellent image! A great example of seeing something the second time I didn't see when I first looked at it.

You made some proverbial lemonade out of the situation, Bill. I sometimes posterize & get this kind of banding in the sky inadvertently & never thought to exploit it...

Great POV and post work Bill. Interesting info you provided on the Tigercat. It competed in the Unlimited Silver Races and looked sort of out of place. I was surprised that it competed at all, it looked to original. I don't think it had many (if any modifications) and it looked to be in mint condition, sort of straight out of an Air Force museum. As to your comment of the girl? The first guy that commented on the aircraft rather the girl surprised. Then you commented on it (and I could hear you mutter under your breath - dang this guy stole my thunder). When you commented with certainty it surprised me. I don't think - as a matter of fact I know- that I couldn't have done that. I think you would definitely be pleased to spend the extra money to go into the pit area. That girl sitting on the wing was either family or good friends with someone.
