Now Available at Renderosity.. Please Zoom In. The USS Alligator was the Unions first submarine during the Civil War. Based on a French design and retooled in the US, the vessel was only 5'6" tall inside yet had a large crew as you can see by the seats in front of the hand cranks. Overall the vessel was some 47 ft long. Modeled back in 2007/8 for a canvas work you can see at the bottom, I have remodeled this with the latest information from NOAA, and split the hull in half to make it easier to pose figures inside. The render at left is done in Vue where I do most of my composition work. The render at right is done in Poser with just the basic lighting skills I have in that application. This is a large Hi Poly model for the Poser artists who enjoys history and the opportunity to create a unique scene within these cramped confines.

Your right Phil..it was a complete flop and sank while being towed near Cape Hatteras..as depicted in my canvas work. The thing is the idea of being confined in such a small space..

That Crazy long hair Frenchmen with the mike is who is making my conversion over to Poser models possible. As I sit at my computer late at night he often keeps me sane as I attempt to create workable Runtimes. Wished I lived next door to him...but then I still remember my first day of College French, and after three attempts to mimic what the teacher asked me to say... I just got up and gave her my text book. Latin seemed so easy in High School : (
