Heaps of ice alongside the Horse of Marken Earlier this week we were on the island of Marken (now a day’s connected by a dike to the mainland) in the IJsselmeer (IJssellake --- Southersea yearssssss ago) the see the drifting ice creating big heaps. At the feet of the “Horse of Marken” (= light house of Marken) there is, two days after the frost / winter has left the Netherlands, still a lot of ice despite the fact that the temperature is well above freezing point (7 degrees Celcius) but due to the wind the chill factor gave a feeling of below freezing point!! The wind and higher temperature does create the condition for the creation of heaps of ice on the east part of the lighthouse. This time the ice is not yet a real a threat for the lighthouse, but so impressive to see mountains of ice at least 2 a 3 meters high. The sun was not really in the right zone; however it creates a plus in the atmosphere for this photo. Thanks for viewing, and your lovely words on my yesterdays posting; comments are always welcome.
