1929 Ford Tri-Motor N414H (5-AT-C, 1928). The first flight of a Tri-Motor was June 11, 1926. A total of 199 Ford Tri-Motors were built between 1926 and 1933. As of 2008 there were 18 in existence. This particular Tri-Motor belongs to the Planes of Fame Air Museum, Grand Canyon/Valley Airport, Arizona. Super shot Sig. I looked this baby up...she flew for 65 years as a sightseeing aircraft flying over the Grand Canyon. Without further research, I think that means she flew from about 1930 to 1995 doing her duty...quite a record and obviously still airworthy today.

They had a Tri-Motor at Sky Harbor in December 1979. I had just graduated from ASU and was getting ready to go Georgia and had absolutely no money to spare. It gave rides and had the markings of an Airliner. It may have been this one. I remember the sound, kind of low -pitched, similar to the J-52!
