Description

Perhaps I'm too practical ... I know they do it in order to attract customers ... but there's no place to sit here! Between the pillows and the dried flowers, I'd have to rearrange the furniture just to sit down. There's no room in front of the chair for your legs, and there's no table on which to rest your beverage. I have plenty of romance in my soul, but when it comes to marketing and merchandising, I'm no fun. Still, I liked the tableau and the reflected paving stones.

HEHE! There is a limit for the romance :-) Maybe the place didnt allow more space for the decoration. Wonderful shot and the flowers adds to it all :)

In this case the furniture arrangement reached a practical goal: the scene of your nice shot.

You have captured a glimpse what most would simply walk past. But once pointed out it's like.. hey, that's right...

I agree. I think some window setters need to go with your thoughts. It can be made to look inviting and practical at the same time. I think THAT would attract even more customers. 'Look hon, it's so pretty and there's so much room to sit and relax!' Not 'It's so pretty, but I wouldn't want to sit there and mess it up.'

Yes, a decorator who went overboard. I like the interplay of direct view & reflected view, which I've seen you do before, Tara, & which you do very well. This couch is about as inviting as the ones that people cover with plastic to protect - at least some people used to do that when I was younger, haven't seen one in decades...

It's all about how it looks...it makes a better image than it does a place to relax! Beautifully done (and seen for what it was!)

At first I thought "meh, no big deal". On second thought I imagined several manikins lounging around on the furniture. One might have its feet up on the coffee table. A few glasses and snack bowls scattered around. I could imagine myself in that setting. And the paving stones work pretty well with the display. Nice catch.

I'm with you: marketing people give me gas. I know we all have to make a living, but all this stuff always seems so smarmy, contrived and vaguely insulting. How dumb do they think we are? That, and it's a cheat; they're offering you a place to sit, but you can't actually sit down. I could ramble on about this further, but I suspect I already have. Anyway, I love the pix and am always a sucker for a good reflection shot. Very nice.
