The Gandalara Cycle is a book series written by authors Randall Garrett and Vicki Ann Heydron. It's a wonderful book of time travel, fantasy and science fiction. The main characters are Rikardon and Keesha, an intelligent an telepathis speccies of a sabretooth, called the Shaum. Their world is actually the Mediterranean Sea which has been closed off from the Atlantic Ocean. Here are Rikardon and Keesha.
