Description

Hello friends, I want to continue and finish my Saxonian series with the finest part of this country, the so called "Saxonian Switzerland". Its name came 150 years ago from 2 students from Switzerland, who trekked here for a weekend and told each other: "It looks like at home in Switzerland!" This area is situated on both sides of the Elbe River south of Dresden and its sandstone rock formations and its woods reach over the frontier deep into Czechia. Tourism here is well known for 150 years and some locations here like Bad Schandau were important points for the rich and famous of these days. This elevator here is an old relict of these "good old days" and guided people on top of the sandstone cliffs alongside The Elbe river with a lot of fine viewing points. After the fall of the Berlin wall this elevator and all locations here were careful restored and today the Saxonian Switzerland is one of Germany`s top tourist locations. The Saxonian Switzerland is a german national park recently; parts of it are strictly forbidden places with rare animals; other parts are for trekking or freeclimbing. Hope you enjoy this. Bye for the moment
