Description

I couldn't resist putting these two together and imagining what it would be like for them to lay side by side in the cool of the evening. I have always been fascinated by wolves and respect them so much. Also on the other hand have always loved dogs, from about the age of 3 years when we had a fox terrier called Mick who had one ear up and one ear down. After Mick we got Teeko a pretty pekingese who was my best friend and knew all my secrets. After that my life has hardly ever been without dogs or cats with the odd rabbit, guinea pig and budgie thrown in (not literally of course) for good measure. I chose to put the German shepherd with the wolf as it is one of the breeds that does resemble its cousin, but also that I have know some pretty impressive and wonderful shepherds in my time. I hope you like this painting. Many thanks for your visit and a special thank you for all your support, it is so appreciated my friends. Hope you are all well, hugs Jane xx Statistics: height measurement to shoulder Wolf height varies from 26inches - 38 inches German Shepherd from 22 inches - 25 inches Wolf weight varies from 44 pounds - 137 pounds German Shepherd from 74 pounds - 94 pounds so the pair could actually look very similar in height and weight. The wolf and the dog are both available as hand painted png's at my yurdigital.com store This is a large file so for painting detail it really does look much better on zoom :D

Sis, I could literally stare at this amazing image you created for hours. What a truly sublime work of art, and as you already know I share your love for animals, especially dogs. You're skill at painting is second to none, and the way you brought these two majestic animals together is superb. I also very much enjoyed the story from your childhood, as it put a nice little bow on what is the perfect gift for everyone.

Magnificent color and lighting in this elegant rendering of the two canine cousins, as they lie serenely side by side, Miss Jane. All breeds of dogs evolved from the wolf, which should explain their similarity.

LOL, Jane, I've been thinking about the very same thing! Glad you got your's up as it is just gorgeous! The background is beautiful for this, wonderfully subtle, yet just clear enough to give one a sense of some trees and perhaps even a forest behind them. Gorgeous painting Dear Jane!!
