tonites upload is of my electric meter which is attached to my house but i guess that is the utilities company's meter. it is an analog meter.it's very friendly to the environment and works perfectly. i recently erected a wood fence around the perimeter of my property anyway i had to contact the city codes dept and tell them and follow their rules to put up the fence which i did. i actually paid a licensed contractor to do it. codes informed me to call this service that would contact all the utility companies and make them aware of the fence which i did and alot of guys showed up and sprayed paint and such on the ground.i guess to honour their gods or something.lol.anyway now about 3 months later the supposed electric utility.a person called me and left a msg saying my fence was hindering them reading my meter and they want to change it. this peaked my curiosity and i just googled things that might happen if a meter is changed and then a conspiracy emerged and the gates of hell opened. i'm sure you europeans know what i'm talking about. it seems your already on the 'smart grid' and canada as well. please tell me because all these environmentalist groups here are fighting it and they are telling me not to let them change the meter. i got literature today from the national health federation and sent alot of info. it doesn't sound good and i would love to hear anyone's opinion who has one or any experience with this. i really feel i should have an option as to whether i want it or not but it appears in some places they are bringing the police and cutting peoples locked gates so they can install these things. alot of doctors and scientist are saying that the radio frequencies are really bad for everything and it is constantly sending them out, basically some people are looking at it as wire tapping becaues just like a computer router it can be hacked and they can monitor your habits.which that's not a big deal to me. what is a big deal to me is the environment and i watched a video of a lady out in the country that got one put on her property and they misled her and told her it only sent out a signal 1 or 2 times a week and that it was a wonderful thing' she stated she had been on the property for over 10 years and there where bats and a hive of bees close to her house since she had lived there.until.yeah the smart meter and they had a gizmo that registered the radio frequency and it was going off constantly. why do we need to fix something that isn't broken. they are trying to tell me it is my fence and i researched and they have signed a contract last year with a company in atlanta to change all the meters here in tennessee and get on the 'samrt grid'. i think it's going to turn the world into a giant microwave oven. supposedly some groups have halted and delayed this happening in some parts of the country of course this part of our country is full of mostly uneducated people who are more concerned about their guns right now so if a meter guy comes and says hey we're gonna change your meter out and if you want to adjust your thermostat while your away you can and he's gonna say ok sure i need to go buy some bullets do whatever you want to destroy my childs future. if your an activist at all you know what to do. contact your congressman and rep if your in the u.s. that seems to be the main problem here. they are doing it and not being honest with people. anyway they are on me now about it and i got to decide what to do. i didn't even know about it until they said they want to change it and like i said i googled. thank the powers that be for the internet. thanks for any advice or input anyone wants to give on this subject. again if your live here in the u.s. and you don't know about it yet google 'smart meters' and see what you find.really ***chills and thrills***

Quite a telling photograph! Quite a tale as well. It's amazing the rigormorole we go through here in the USA. Did I even spell "rigormorole" even remotely right? I haven't been keeping up with the whole smart-meters versus dumb-meters thing, but then there's a lot I haven't been catching up with. This is a great shot, however.

never had any issues with this but maybe the environmentalists who fight all these frequencies should use their mobiles less often as these waves as well are damaging the brains (see the brainless new generation lol). i guess there are more dangerous waves/frequencies around.for example the wave of stupidity that hits the planet. besides that i dont give a rats how the meter looks like install read i pay and there ya go lol. sorry i cant help it but i had to rant from my personnel point of view at things.no offense intended.

They have already changed most of them around here.. I would love to have a set up that created my own electricity. Self sufficient.

After 40 years of teaching electronics and hearing the endless diatribes from people who are concerned but not well informed, my personal opinion is that you have nothing to worry about. It is not in their interest to transmit continuously and indicators of transmission are likely just picking up the electromagnetic field around the 120 V supply. There is still research yet to be done here, as was done with cell phones which caused them to change the antenna designs, but indications are (and I have read research on this subject) that these do not present a danger to the public. If you are particularly worried, install a copper screen or plate on the wall inside your home on the other side of the wall that your meter is installed on. A piece, say 5' by 5' would probably cut 95% of the emissions into your home, even though I believe such emissions are harmless. You would also need to attach a wire (any size) from the screen to a nearby ground such as a nearby electrical outlet. Then, you can put the issue behind you and sleep without worrying or doing battle with your electrical supplier. Peace of mind! Good luck!

Just my 2cents here. We have new water meters that are read the same way as the electric meter your talking about. I too have seen tons and tons of negative posts about them, which all is so far off base it's not even funny. You are exposed to more "emissions" from cell towers, radio broadcast and any other wireless source then you would ever be from your electric meter. As whaleman said they need to get off their cell phones if they are so worried! I do applaud you for do some research on your own and I would beg that you do more, the use of "smart" meters hopefully will make the distribution and use of electricity more efficient in the long run. I say hopefully only because humans are still in the loop and lord knows we are overly talented in reducing efficiency. LOL

thank you northlandsplasher08. i totally am aware of the water meter and guess what i was the first in my community to receive one of those BUT the diffence is that they placed it on the 'right of way'....you know that little strip of land that most people, including myself think they own but in actuality it is owned by the government. i know this to be true because i recently had my land surveyed. that property...it's about 5 or 6 feet off the road is the cities for utilities...so they did not even have to come on my property to put it on and i knew nothing of it until i had a leak in the meter box and the guy came out and said hey you got one of those fancy new gizmos...the only one in this area...so they used me as a guinea pig for that as well. i i totally understand that we ALL want them to be ok but come on now...technology has evolved very quickly and in reality there has not been enough time since these technologies have emerged for ANYONE to know exactly what kind of adverse effects such may cause. i'm very pro environment and by that i mean nature...my concern is for our planet and your children. i'm glad to see that from these responses there is little concern from the artist community on this site.
