Interesting. Try putting a candle in the scene and turn out the lights and turn off your flash. Then, keep the shutter open for varying amounts of seconds. I once did this years ago and got some cool images. You just need to be sure there are no drafts or the candle flame will blur.

Well that's certainly whitened it out... Interesting.. Now try a black studio.. See the results then.. Rob

Thats cool. When I was in old fashion art school, we would use a box to set up still lifes at home. It's easy with a light, but I would try and set up outside, not always strong enough light to pick up good shadows. :O)

Great experiment and atempt here! Maybe 2 ply tissue paper would be suitable as you could use lamps to light from the outside therefore ataining a diffused lighting condition - could be worth a try! ;-)

If I may suggest something for future exploration: they say that only one thing looks better when lit from directly below, and that is glassware. If your set is made of paper, consider cutting a hole under the bottom of the vase and throwing some light straight up through it. That would look really cool.

Great capture Mike! I suggest you must stick a white cardboard on the wall and make a kind of smooth curve to make a kind of cyclorama, that avoids the horizontal line at the bottom and gives you greater sense of depth.

I have wanted to do that too, just haven't ever gotten around to do it. You must tell us how to create one.
