Description

Pixel, our feline matriarch, had to be put down yesterday after being mauled in our yard by a great dane. We are devastated... The dog owner is also very distraught - he adopted the dog a year ago, and was horrified by its behaviour. Pixel was our "always there" cat, a wonderful, feisty character and a great friend. I'm so sorry for your loss, its amazing how close we can become to our feline friends (I have eight such friends myself). I'd be heartbroken to lose even one of them. Pixel was a beautiful kitty.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Words are never enough to make up for the hole a pet leaves in your heart. We just had to have our kitty Scooter put down after sudden onslaught of something that destroyed all of his red blood cells. Even though he was walking dead, it was so horrible. My point, I totally know how you feel. This is our 3rd pet we have lost in just a few short years. As for the dog, who knows what set it off, but it is an animal that is normally a calm breed and I have a Great Dane mix, he is gentle with out 2 remaining kitties. So a sudden movement or distraction may have been the cause, not a bad dog. Don't hate him, please. I am sure that the owner is in a lot of pain as to weither this means his dog will have to be put down as well. Remember that dogs and cats are naturally not friends in all situations. Remember this, Pixel is gone but never lost to your family. Her memory is always there. When you consider perhaps a new kitty, be sure to think of those abandoned and lost at the Humane Society and the SPCA. Ariana

Oh my goodness I am so sorry, such a tragedy. I lost one of my cats after being attacked by a dog, so I have some idea of what you are going through. Take care. xxxx
