Description
this was taken early in the morning near Groblersdal in South Africa. The duck family are very shy and I had to creep up to them in order to get the shot.

I like the panoramic composition, the mood of the mist. Sad that the Egyptian Geese only have one chick left - they tend to have at least eight. Must be a harsh envinonment. Clive

Wow I didn't know that? Shame. There are crocs in the river so maybe that's the reason. Sad

We do have these egyptian geese here in Germany too, they usually have a bunch of little ones indeed. But anyway, this is a wonderful shot and it was sure worth the creeping! Great misty mood as well, I like it very much.

Nice photo! Actually crocodiles only eat birds if they really have no other choice since they don't like the feathers that much. There are however many other species of wild animals like jackals, water lizards and wild cats that most likely got to the eggs even before they hatched. You caught the mood perfectly here!

Birds are very shy and difficult to photograph. If they see you they fly. Superb capture. God Bless.
