Description

"Zira looked at the fallen shape; odd, she thought, a green marble statue with clothes on it? Who would bother to clothe a statue? Fear was on that face. She bent down, looked at the sightless eyes of ruby, and stroked the stone cheek. There was a sudden flash, a tingle in her hand and Zira gazed in alarm at her fingers. I'm in the Jewelled Forest she thought, where the lightest touch will turn your body to stone and your eyes to rubies. Pore and hair, wrinkle and fold were green marble and even as she stared in horror and fear so the emerald shade was slowly creeping towards her wrists. Zira gasped, sprang away from the statue. She would have to get help, and quickly, before she too turned to cold lifeless marble like the fallen girl. But where, oh where, was she to find help in this evil place?" (Part of a story I still need to finish ...)
