Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

What a car, so sad to see it in such rough condition. I like the shot, makes it look like it's in jail....

When I first looked at this shot (even though I know where you took it) I had the thought that you were walking around and found the place where they keep cars that behave badly and are kept in lock-down. And then, reality shifted back to normal and I realize that this is not an emotionally-disturbed car with a tendency to act out in public. And yet, the sense of incarceration is very strong with those bars and the almost forlorn feeling they give...and then there are the sudden dabs of color that are quite eye-catching and refreshing. This is a great shot and I rather like the odd back end of this car. I would love to see an automotive palindrome where the trunk and front hood are designed along the exact same lines. Kinda like a push-me-pull-you car! The new Buick Panindrome...ah...but that world doesn't exist. Oh well...this is still an excellent shot. What's with that rearward point? And just how many bodies is that trunk built to hold?

lol at chip; i was wondering how long it was in for too!! but back to the basics; love this shot, sure shows you that great style those cars have!!

Gee, I hope it doesn't get scratched being among all those other rough and tumble metal things:) Neat shot. Any angle on a boat-tailed Buick Riviera looks good, even when rust is taking over.

A very pretty backside!

A prime candidate for restoration! I like Chip's idea of a palindrome auto...just look at this rear end and imagine it as the front. It gives me interesting thoughts!

I thought of you this afternoon when I was driving over to visit a friend. A guy pulled up next to me in a 1968(ish) Plymough Super Fury convertible. Black. Perfectly restored. Top down. I moaned and sighed on your behalf, my dear. Just wanted you to know. :) Great shot of this unique body style! I remember it well!

A real "land barge".
