Description

The origin of the term “corpsicle” rests with usage dating from 1969 in Fred Pohl's book The Age of the Pussyfoot, in which a corpsicle is referred to as "a zombie frozen in Alaska." However, in perhaps his greatest work, The World at the End of Time, Pohl, one of my favorite sci-fi authors, uses the term to refer to bodies placed in cryogenic sleep. Tragically, some thawed bodies suffer “freezer burn” and either die after the warming process has been completed or have injuries of one kind or another resulting in diminished physical or cognitive function. Perhaps, one day, colony ships will carry thousands of passengers in cryogenic sleep to distant worlds. Not likely at the rate we’re going, but we can always hope, can’t we? All models are either Bryce5 or Wings3d originals. Post work in PSP8. Thanks for lookin’!

Awesome scene and excellent lighting! The last time I checked, Cryogenetics studies were focusing on certain frogs and their ability to survive extreme cold temperatures. Unfortunately, scientists are still baflled :-/

Yeah, it's nice to dream we could all be “corpsicles” heading off happily into the sunset, but we'll just probably just nuke the whole Earth one day soon...bugger, cause I think I would be lemonade flavoured one ! LOL Reminded of the Discovery crafts interior from 2001, albeit a bit smaller than your interstellar craft and man talk about a huge electricity bill with all those lights on and every bodys still asleep ! Kool Bryce sci-fi ! ~Cheers~
