Description
On the way back to Jakar we passed through the Bhutanese countryside and saw many farmhouses like this one. If you look at the right side of the building you will see a salami shaped figure hanging from the eve. It is a wooden representation of the male genitalia. That's right, a flying penis. It is meant to insure fertility of the man of the house. We never saw anything for the females. I guess the Bhutanese are not worried about their fertility.

Excellent capture Mark! Really beautiful architecture! I wonder how many Westerners would dare to hang something like that from their homes. as they would think to do that would mean needing help LOL. I can imagine also the comments of wives. "Dear, if you are going downtown do not forget to bring another pendant. We need a bigger one"

Of course I had to ZOOM-in, to be sure, to be sure :) there is also something hanging to the left and something on top of the roof ??? I thought I just mention that, in case there are more than one male living in the same house ... BTW did I also mention the beautiful decoration on those windows and both eves -wonderful craftsmanship. BB

Different countries have different customs..... Something seems to have gone wrong. The field appears to be very fruitful .... but where are the children?? The house is decorated beautifully. Much effort you will not find here. Like a doll's house.

I believe there is also a fertility festival in Japan where they basically charge down thr streets carrying a massive wooden penis. BANZAI!!
