Description

This view is from the South Gate of Luke AFB in Glendale (West Valley of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area) toward ESE and shows some of the clouds that are dropping precipitation in North Scottsdale and the East Valley. This was a crazy day weather wise. At 06:00 it hailed at my house but not long enough to build up. Later it rained on and off. It was cold, windy and miserable, sort of like a lousy day in Germany in November. Our normal temperature here in Phoenix for 20 February is 72F and 50F. On this day it was 52F at midnight, by noon it was 45F and at 18:00 it was 43F. Watching a commercial airliner on approach to Sky Harbor Airport about 20 miles east from Luke, one could see and hear that the crew took all precautions not to get caught by wind shear or any other unexpected weather phenomena.
