Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  ÂÂ

They make me sad too; I have an uncle with a houseful of all kinds of stuffed kills. He has grizzly bears, cougars, birds, bobcats, deer, moose--pretty much anything you can hunt in this country is stuffed and displayed in his winter home in Northern Idaho. There has been an increase in these black bears moving into our settled areas, which really means that we've built too much into their habitats! Beautiful capture!

Wonderful capture Dana. I'm not a fan of killing just for trophies aka stuffing and mounting. Glad to hear you hand is getting better

not into the stuffed animals alot myself dana, shame to see beautiful tigers as rugs or display pieces. still is a cool piece, not all old and beat up like some. almost looks alive.

I am the same way, I do not care for animals killed for sport. back when I was working people asked me to hang many animal trophies. I needed the money so I did it. one family was so proud because the son had went to Africa with the father for the express purpose of killing animals to have new trophies some local sporting good stores has so many animals on display

The thing that annoys me most about this new layout is the distracting white bar at the top of the page. I wish they would remove it.

It is sad that folk still kill for fun even today.

If he were alive and you were this close you'd be in trouble, LOL! I'm unhappy with the site changes too and you might want to add to my complaints where they will be seen. Check it out [HERE].

Beautiful but dangerous animal, excellent shot, Dana ! I agree with you, I hope they will change the comment window !

This is a lovely picture Dana, just a shame that it is dead.

Disgraceful to end a beautiful creatures life just to have it stuffed or mounted for display. The Trading Post would be a very depressing place to work for me...to see this every day.

Lovely pic Dana, but I am with you, there is no way I could kill or want an animal for a trophy. xx

A good photograph of this bear even if it is a stuffed trophy.

Good shot.

Oh, I LOVE the Kittery Trading Post! That is where I bought my recurve bow for target shooting in the backyard. Yes, I am an animal lover and hate animals being killed just as trophies. If you are going to eat the meat, then I don't have a problem, but not just for a trophy!

poor bear! nice shot and great complain!! I hate this small comment box too! Why are they so stingy?

I bet you were glad it was not alive it looks like it could have been a bit dodgy . I agree about the comment box I did send a email about it , Its a real pain having to pull the box out every time you want to comment.

Nice work Dana, and I agree with you I don't care for the changes, seems to happen with most sites like this though. Leave well enough alone or ask the members here for input to as to do they want change we are the ones that keep this site up and going.
