For some reason the 'Flight of the Valkyries" started playing in my headand the twisted version of a statement comes to mind, "I love the smell of carrion in the morning; it reminds of of lunch!' Wonderful capture

we have American vultures that nest around Dallas, but I have never been real close to one, at least not as in me being it's potential supper

Fantastic close up. Is it a Griffon? Here in Arizona we only have Turkey Vultures, but they are all over the place and they are just about year round!

What a gorgeous bird! Vultures are such odd creatures...they have the strongest stomach acids of any critters on the planet, and...well...their dinner choices are always quite interesting. They're such intriguing, handsome creatures and this does them justice. This is brilliant.
