Description

The last two winters, I've been bemoaning the fact we hadn't had much snow...... Well, shut my mouth! In the last week, we've been hit by two major snowstorms here in the Kansas City metro area. Like much of the midwest, we're digging out, and dealing with snow-packed roads, power outages, and all the other fun stuff.... We lost power for about 2 hours just as I got home this morning. We were lucky in that regard. Some in the KC area still have no power. OK - enough snow, already! But it looks like more on the way later this week. I made a comment in Dan's (diemamker) last post that he should send Ranpha over in her new boots to help me shovel snow..... But I'm not sure she could see over the top of it! :-D For those of you that don't know already - yes, I have an old telephone pole in my backyard. I collect glass insulators. Yes, I'm nuts! LOL! Between the weather, my (bleep) job, and other chaos, commenting and progress on Page 1 of Chapter 4 has been slow. I hope to be catching up over the weekend - if my #$%%$ job doesn't insist I work all weekend.. Hope everyone stays safe and warm out there!

The same is happening to Chicago. But I think that Chicagoans need something to complain about in terms of weather. We love sitting at the edge of the desert praying for rain, only to invite the deluge, and then we love sitting in the deluge, praying for dry weather, thus inviting the drought, and we love sitting in droughts, praying for rain again. It's the Chicago way...which is probably the human way. This is a marvelous series of shots and snow does have its own distinct beauty, when it's fresh and still white. I love these and even laughed at the "frozen jellyfish" in the first shot...well...not really jellyfish, but that's what they looked like to me. I'm weird like that.

Well Rod ... that'll learn yah to be careful what you wish for, LOL! Yes, I can laugh because Sh@T rolls down hill as they say and we here in New England keep getting your left overs from these damned storms! Yup. They're forecasting another frigin storm for us now. The one you just got! I too am getting DAMNED sick of all this snow! The average snow fall for us for the month of February is 10". We are now at about 36 inches! SOB! Would you PLEASE KEEP the rest?!

We used to live in NH and routinely had 1'-2' snowfalls. Luckily the plows could clear the roads in a matter of hours. It was beautiful but I'm not a winter person, so after 20 years we moved to KY. More ice than snow here, but no one knows how to deal with any of it, so the least amount of snow and the state shuts down. I vote we have Spring early this year!!!

I'll let the girl know, and who knows, maybe Ranpha has some crasy contraption in her lab that can help you with all this snow... or possible blow your whole jard sky high! Man! you really got hit hard with all this snow, don't through out your back shoveling it all!...LOL!..

Dang, that is pretty deep when it's up to the 'butt end' of your lawn chair! We got hit here in CO last Wednesday and it's been snowing off and on. A lot melted off the pavement yesterday but today was yucky, grey and cold. No melt. I think it's supposed to snow again here. Keep warm and yeah, don't hurt yourself shoveling all that Rod. Hope you do't have to work on the weekend!

Yeah... I know this look all too well... although we haven't had tons of snow this year, we have twice as much as last year and more normal cold assed temps than the past two years here in Michigan. Seems like the worst of the weather has stayed lower in the state and across the country this year. Hang tough man, hopefully only a few more weeks of this crap.

Those are great shots of your back yard! I can hardly believe it! Love Chip's "frozen jellyfish." :) They do sort of look like that, don't they? Is that your bbq grill in the second shot? Can I take that to mean you're not going to be cooking me a chicken dinner any time soon? LOL! Hopefully by the time we get there it will all be melted, the sky will be blue, the birds will be singing, and the weather will be balmy! :)

Does look beautiful though.. Here where I live city is super at getting those plows out and clearing the major streets for traffic. Police car comes around announcing anyone parked on the street will be towed..And trust me I watch and they do..

I heard about Kansas getting dumped on and thought of you right away. Glad to know you're well. Brace up, probably less than a month to go and then the snow should be gone. Then we get drought! Yeahhhhh!!!!

We just got over a similar hit here in the UK. It does my head in when people go on about how wonderful and beautiful the snow is... they've obviously never had to drive in it!

Thanks for the good look Rod. Your yard looks a bit different then I remember it:) I had a distinct sense of gladness come over me as I read about the two storms in KC...and appreciated the fact that I haven't had to get out the snow shovel even once this year here!

It's been a nasty winter in Michigan. Last year was on the warm side. This year is horribly cold and awful.
