Description

I think I may have posted one or two photos of this buddha which sits in the middle of our circular driveway before, but I particularly like this one. Although I am not "officially" a practicing buddhist, I find myself agreeing with a lot of buddhist philosophy & the presence of this statue (& other smaller ones in & around my house) help to remind me not to get too caught up in trivial distractions or to let myself become stressed by daily life. On a somewhat related note, I just found out that the Dalai Lama will be giving a talk in Eugene (which is a little less than 3 hours from where I live) in May entitled "The Path to Peace and Happiness in the Global Society". I have read several of his books & admire him very much, so I am looking forward to hearing him in person...

For me you have expressed a spiritual serenity and essence. This has a very strong symbolic imaging for myself, who am not a Buddhist, but like you delight in the in the tenants’ and wisdom. It is an instant fav for me. What a way to greet your friends and guests. Beautifully done!

Beautiful sanctuary. Is that lodge pole pine? I need to get my hands on some straight poles like that to make rustic furniture. Great shot!

UVDan: I don't know exactly what kind of pines these are, but sorry, you can't cut them down. There is a good deal of very nice madrone that has already been cut down on the hillside above my house (thinned for fire safety) that would make great firewood, but getting it down from there isn't easy.
