The next part of their task lay before them, to pass into the Abyss and destroy the Spider Staff, and with it, the great Retriever master mold known as Laedusmystren. To accomplish this feat, they would need the Mind of Lolth, that oversized, ugly, brain looking crystal formation that housed the intelligence and knowledge of Lolth soon after She became a God. Only it could command Laedusmystren to take up the Staff and snap it in its mandibles. And only Laedusmystren could destroy the Staff. The blast would be like any other Staff of the Magi or Staff of Power destroyed by its owner,… the rough equivalent of a few hundred pounds of explosives, only in this case, more like a small nuclear explosion.

To control the Mind and force it to do their bidding required the assorted Artifacts of Kollara, the Liche-Queen of the Githyanki. Thus, they wouldn’t be going into the Abyss alone. The Githyanki would allow those artifacts out of their sight only in the hands of those who had first retrieved them, members of the Silver Gryphon Legacy.

Therein, the light of the Silver Gryphon Legacy was called to aid them. Having made the journey into the Void and been the lynch pin of the operation that secured the Mind of Lolth, it would be the Light of Apos, the half Ashiri known as Nova who would control the artifacts. Only her mental powers, with the aid of the Githyanki relics, would permit them to keep the Mind in check and command it to do as they desired. Beside her would be the half-elven daughter of the Off-Worlder scientist, Professor James Kellowitz, the one known to the elves of Foxmoor and Syvasgaard as Illendiel, the Light of Corellon. As High Priestess of the King of the Seldarine in the region, she had her own sword to grind against Lolth and Her minions. Thus the two waited at Kar’Dhaer on a bright, late summer day to escort the Night Raptors into the very Demonweb itself.

Who would return? Who would perish in their quest and never again see the light of their home world? Whatever their fates, this would no doubt be their greatest adventure yet.
